Welcome to my Online Shop

Artwork for sale is generally available as either

  • Originals
  • Limited edition prints (giclee) framed; or
  • Limited edition prints mounted (unframed).

Original artwork is usually glassed and well framed in quality wood, e.g. whitewashed obeche.

Framed prints are glassed and appropriately framed in a wood grain frame. Unframed prints are mounted in off white mount board and protected by a hard backing as well as strong cellophane.

Please contact me if you have queries about the framing or if you wish to visit the studio in order to view work. You are most welcome.

About the Artist

Ingrid Karlsson-Kemp As a versatile mixed media artist, I believe art should tell a meaningful story to the beholder.

My narrative style of work is very much based on encapsulating my own  personal memories and memories and experiences, yet illustrated in a way that can  be interpreted individually by the viewer.

I originally began my colourful journey as an artist drawing all over my Dad’s meeting agendas and business papers as a child! As long as I can remember I have practised art in some form, from stitching to photography; painting in a range of media from oils to gouache and acrylics; working in graphic design and illustration.

Mostly inspired by storytelling, my work also combines the magical scenery and ever-changing seasonal colours bestowed around my studio in Upper Dovedale, a most beautiful part of the Peak District in which I am lucky to both live and work. I also draw on inspiration from my Swedish roots, enhanced by my regular journeys back home.

I utilise an approach that creates rich, colourful textures developed from recycled paper-based materials, or stitched in fabric and fibre. Some of my favoured techniques include collage, mono-printing and crystalline water colour enhancing the work with a luminous quality. The result is a three dimensional, visual representation attempting to evoke thought.

Whilst being one of the resident artists at the Gallery in the Gardens at Buxton’s refurbished Pavilions, I am also a member of the prestigious Peak District Artisans exhibiting at the award-winning annual Great Dome Art Fair, part of the Buxton Festival Fringe.

I welcome commissions and also run regular workshops, demonstrations and talks both in my studio and at chosen locations.

Work currently on display includes the recent “Tioram Triptych” (below), a large narrative drawing on Scottish scenery and history; “Tulips” a commission based on those magic first rich red spring tulips in my garden; “Honeysuckle”, reflecting on my viewpoint looking out on the famous coral reef hills though the organic shapes of the old honeysuckle.

Workshops & Studio

As a practicing artist, I regularly give talks, demonstrations and interactive workshops.

My workshops - which take place in my purpose built studio - draw on Story-telling for inspiration, and range from Collage Techniques, to Mixed Media and Stitching in Fabric and Fibres. The sessions are tailor-made to suit  a range of levels and experience, from beginners to improvers and advanced learners, I also support many working professionals requiring creative continuous development. The formats of my workshops are flexible, from singular sessions for art or craft guilds, a series of themed workshops for community groups, through to longer contracts for e.g. Art in Health organisations.
