These are rich pictures stitched in fabric, fibres and found objects, often incorporating words and symbols. I prefer to use recycled materials, discarded clothing, and old materials found in a home, as they bring their own history into the creative process. This is a versatile medium for story telling, exploring the decorative tradition of many cultures, encouraging the revival of traditional techniques, and yet offering such freedom for personal interpretation.
